Velva Thompson

Family Advocate

Helping people not only makes a positive impact on their lives but the lives of their children. I get a great feeling of pride helping a mom (or a dad) overcome her situation and making a better life for her children. I know they are going to make it!

Nicole Hoste-Breslin

Development Director

Helping those in need is a life long passion for Nicole.  For more than ten years, she has been a volunteer member of the Junior League of Flint, where she first learned of Family Promise. Passionate about her community, Nicole has a track record of helping non-profit organizations grow - whether it's raising money, hosting events or recruiting volunteers! We are excited to have her aboard to help us grow our serving capacity through grants, events, and church networks. Nicole is equally excited to be here; when asked to describe her decision to move here, she stated, "Family Promise started with a few people who had a vision and a mission to help families.  I am excited to add my experience in fundraising and creating awareness in our community to the passionate Family Promise team and dedicated board of directors."

Tiffani Ferrier-Wharry

Executive Director

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Gandhi

Tiffani has spent the last few years focusing on exactly where she would like to be and what she wanted out of a career.  Her expertise in areas such as finance, management, business, special events, education, communications, and coordinating are essential as Family Promise embarks on the next five years in service to the community.  Tiffani has a Bachelors in Business, with a focus in Public Relations and Masters in Career and Technical Education - Post Secondary Administration, both hail from Ferris State University (Go Bulldogs!). While obtaining her Masters at Ferris, she was lucky enough to participate in a Study Away Program at Trinity College of Dublin for Diversity in Education. As a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha, she has helped to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education, helping to coordinate 5K’s and various fundraising events.  Along with presenting guest lectures for Mott Community College, and leading panel discussions for business owners and students through Genesee County. Ultimately, seeking a career that allowed her to help others, and bring positive change to people’s lives, is how she knew she belonged here at Family Promise.
