Family Promise of Mid Michigan strengthens our community by keeping vulnerable families safely housed, supported, and moving toward long-term stability.

We serve families experiencing homelessness or housing instability; especially those who are doubled-up, living in motels, or at imminent risk of losing their housing and provide the services they need to remain together and regain stability. Our work benefits our community by:

  • Preventing family homelessness before it happens. Through the Shared Housing Intervention Program (SHIP), we provide case management, financial coaching, employment support, transportation assistance, and referrals. This keeps families housed, reduces shelter entries, and protects children from the trauma of homelessness.

  • Providing safe, structured spaces for children. Our Bright Futures program gives Category 2 homeless kids access to tutoring, meals, internet, mentoring, positive relationships, and after-school enrichment. This reduces barriers to school success, increases stability, and gives kids a safe place to learn and grow.

  • Offering emergency shelter solutions when no other options exist. When families face dangerous or inappropriate living conditions, we step in with temporary shelter options and support, helping families stay together and children remain safe.

  • Meeting essential basic needs. We provide meals, laundry resources, transportation help, household items, hygiene supplies, and crisis intervention. Stabilizing families during high-stress moments is the key to stable housing.

  • Partnering with the community. We engage congregations, volunteers, schools, and local agencies to share resources, coordinate care, and build a stronger safety net for families in crisis.

  • Reducing long-term public costs. By keeping families housed, improving school stability, and reducing child welfare involvement, our services decrease strain on emergency systems, shelters, and publicly funded services.
